David J. Darab
DDS, MS, MBA
A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Darab earned his BS in Chemistry from Ursinus College and completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated at the top of his class. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Anatomy from the University of Texas Southwestern School of Biomedical Sciences in Dallas, TX. During his graduate program, he taught anatomy to medical students. Dr. Darab then completed his residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Parkland Memorial Hospital, and affiliated hospitals. He holds board certifications in both Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Anesthesiology and is on staff at Catawba Valley Medical Center and Viewmont Surgery Center. His clinical interests include outpatient anesthesia, wisdom teeth removal, complex dentoalveolar surgery, and corrective jaw surgery.
Recognizing the complexities facing healthcare and clinical practice, he recently earned his MBA, specializing in Healthcare Management, from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Dr. Darab has contributed to a National Science Foundation Research Grant and a National Institute of Dental Research (NIDR) grant. He has numerous publications and book chapters to his name, along with several patents in dental anesthesia. Deeply involved in his community, Dr. Darab has served as the past President of both the North Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the North Carolina Society of Dental Anesthesiology, where he was a founding member. Currently, he serves on committees of the North Carolina Dental Society. Dr. Darab also volunteers his professional services with the Exodus Homes program in Hickory, NC.
